There are several types of substance use resources. Those resources include medical stabilization, inpatient, residential, intensive outpatient, outpatient, and support group meetings. Each type is dependent on the severity of the substance use.

There are several locations that provide one or more of these services. The forms of payment differs for each facility. Types of treatment offered also varies. SAMHSA.gov is a great place to find treatment near you. If you have specific questions, please contact MAAG for assistance, as the organization has contact information for several facilities.

Medical Stablization

This is a hospital-based service that helps adults manage withdrawal symptoms from substances.

Inpatient Treatment

This is an inpatient treatment that also aids in the withdrawal symptoms from substances.

Residential Treatment

Residential treatment is a facility that provides treatment for substance use on a day and night basis.

Intensive Outpatient

Intensive outpatient (IOP) is treatment for substances several days per week where in individual receives counseling, group education and group counseling.

Outpatient Treatment

Outpatient treatment is treatment for substance use and is not as intensive as IOP, some counseling and groups are available depending on need.

Medication Assisted Treatment – MAT

Medications approved by the FDA to help treat substance use disorders in collaboration with counseling.
